Who We Are
Assumption Church is a Society of Saint Pius X chapel in Walton, KY.
At Assumption Church, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is celebrated according to
the
1962 Missale Romanum,
also known as the Traditional Latin Mass.

|
"The Holy Mass is a prayer itself, even the highest prayer
that exists. It is the Sacrifice dedicated by our Redeemer at the Cross, and repeated
every day on the Altar. If you wish to hear the Mass as it should be heard, you
must follow with eye, heart, and mouth all that happens at the Altar.
Further, you must pray with the priest the holy words said by him in the Name of
Christ and which Christ says by him. You have to associate your heart with the holy
feelings which are contained in these words and in this manner you ought to follow
all that happens on the Altar. When acting in this way, you have prayed Holy Mass."
—Pope St. Pius X

The church was consecrated , Our Lady Of The Assumption, on Saturday July 16th, 2011, by His Excellency, Bishop
Bernard Fellay.
Bishop Fellay blessed and consecrated the
altar, and interred the relics of the saints inside the same.
There were more than 250 in attendance, and a formal sit-down dinner was served
in celebration.

The
altar
was originally from Assumption Church on Gilbert Avenue in downtown Cincinnati.
According to a 1973 document, celebrating the centennial of Assumption Church (on
Gilbert Avenue), the altar was added in 1924. It was made in Italy. The marble is
generally Italian Botticino and the figures and carved panel are of white Carrara
marble slightly stained to harmonize with other marble.

There are also two side altars: the St. Joseph altar and the St. Elizabeth altar.

The central panel over the main altar is a replica of
Murrillo's famous painting
of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. On either side of the central panel
are beautifully wrought marble figures of saints Peter & Paul, and the four evangelists,
Saints Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The addition of the altar resulted in a re-dedication
of the church in March, 1927. His Excellency, The Most Reverend John T. McNicholas,
O.P.S.T.M., officiated.
